She then decides that Kaito must discover himself who Lucia really is.īut that isn't all of Lucia's problems. To make the situation worse, Lucia cannot reveal her mermaid identity to to a human, lest she wants to turn to foam. Although she is in love with him, Kaito cannot recognize Lucia's human form compared to the mermaid he once met. Years later, thirteen-year old Lucia travels to the surface to live as a human when she finds that same boy, Kaito. jeans and a longsleeve or like!! not with her hair down (i wish they had done what they did for cardcaptor sakura! i think the creator of that show specifically mentioned wanting sakura to not have stock clothing like that, bc shes young and girls wear more than one outfit!)Ĩ.When Mermaid Princess Lucia was young, she rescued a young boy who had drowned and entrusted her Pink Pearl to him. this isn’t plot important but !! the girls wear different outfits and hairstyles! pitch and pure stuck to a few outfits and that was it for them, but we get to see the girls wearing all these cute- some not so cute- looks in the manga and i think its important bc it speaks a little bit to their characters- they’re young, yknow, they’re gonna change it up! i think its nice sggss i was really surprised when i saw rina in an outfit that wasnt.

coco’s backstory with sara is more well-explored in the manga! which is awesome imo, i wish they would have done more with her in the anime! it basically explains how close they were and how she ended up at gaito’s palace! i think the anime tried to do this, with the episode in pure about sara’s shell, and the little monologue coco gets during the end of season 1, but coco’s story had a little more weight to it in the mangaħ. pearl piari isn’t a hotel in the manga, it’s a bath house! so we get a lot more scenes of the girls in their mermaid forms throughout the manga when they’re not in the oceanĦ. rina works at awami shrine as a shrine maiden! <33 i liked this a lot tbh, and it changes a few things plot-wise- the candle episode happens at the shrine instead of at the sea cave, for example!ĥ. in the anime, their forms are very- you’re either a mermaid or you’re human! in the manga there’s a little bit of in between- lucia can be a mermaid from the waist down, and have a human torso! it’s an inbetween stage as she’s drying off, but still! its interesting because we see this isn’t exactly true in the anime- the anime makes it seem like their pearls need to get wet for them to transform! as far as i’m aware, anyway- rinas ankle deep in the water in pure when masahiro stops her from jumping in the river, and she doesn’t transform, but when a drop of water gets on lucia’s pearl at the water park, hippo has to pull her out bc she’s forced back into her mermaid form! o:Ĥ. lucia becoming the next aqua regina, which they hint at in the coming of age ceremony episode but never fully saidģ. lucia doesn’t know she’s a princess until they move onto land (which makes sense imo!)Ģ. That being said though, there are some plot points and things pertaining to the story that do change! heres a little list, this isnt everything tho tbh!ġ. Yes and no!!!! manga in general to me tend to be a little more fast-paced and action heavy than their anime bc they have a couple pages to tell a story that could be a whole 30 minute episode in an anime! i think watching the anime first is peak bc you get 91 episodes to get to know everyone really well and once you get to the manga, the characters are really consistent with what the anime’s done- you don’t feel like lucia or anyone really is a totally different person or anything!
